Intellectual Property Report
Patrick McClay is an Associate in the Intellectual Property practice of the firm's New York office. Mr. McClay has extensive experience in a variety of intellectual property matters. With a background in biomedical engineering, Mr. McClay is particularly experienced in prosecuting U.S. patent applications related to medical devices.
Prior to joining Baker Botts LLP, Mr. McClay interned at the Brooklyn Law Incubator and Policy Clinic where he advised un-funded startup companies on a wide variety of intellectual property issues. For clients with patent needs, he drafted prior art search reports, freedom to operate opinions, provisional and non-provisional patent applications, and office action responses. Mr. McClay also interned at the United States Patent Office where he drafted office actions and performed prior art searches.
Mr. McClay completed his undergraduate studies at California Polytechnic State University where he earned his degree in Biomedical Engineering. His studies included thermodynamics, fluids, bioelectronics and instrumentation, microfabrication, human anatomy and physiology, biomedical engineering design, and neuroengineering. At Brooklyn Law School, Mr. McClay earned his Certificate in Intellectual Property, Media and Information Law, with distinction.
