Kevin Keenan has a global practice in the energy infrastructure and transportation sectors, with a focus on LNG project development and shipping. Mr. Keenan assists clients around the world with cross-border transactions involving the development, purchase, sale, transportation, refining and processing of various hydrocarbons. His clients range from large integrated oil and gas companies to joint ventures, state-owned companies, private equity funds and project start-ups.
Long-term hydrocarbon supply arrangements are often the linchpin in the development of major infrastructure projects around the world and Mr. Keenan's value as an advisor lies in knowing how the various pieces fit together, what risks are involved and how best to mitigate those risks. But putting purchase and sale arrangements in place is often only half the battle. With his knowledge and experience in transportation, getting the commodity from production facility to market completes the value chain. Mr. Keenan has significant experience with tanker owners, charterers and shipyards in the construction and chartering of vessels needed to bring hydrocarbons to market. He has negotiated charter arrangements (time, voyage and bareboat) for more than 75 LNG tankers. He has negotiated shipbuilding contracts and vessel modification contracts with South Korean, Japanese, Chinese, Middle East and European shipyards for more than 60 LNG and crude oil tankers. And he has considerable experience in floating LNG applications, having negotiated long-term charters and shipbuilding contracts for first-of-their-kind shuttle and regasification vessels (SRVs) and permanently moored floating storage and regasification units (FSRUs).
