Simon Elliott is a corporate (mergers and acquisitions) lawyer whose practice is primarily focused on the real estate sector (either in relation to matters where real estate is the focus of the transaction or matters where real estate forms a significant part of the transaction). He has 20 years of experience assisting clients in their investment, development and management of real estate in Russia and EMEA. Simon advises both international and local investors, developers, managers and contractors on Russian and EMEA real estate acquisitions, divestments, joint ventures, restructurings, financings and on development management, construction, property management and landlord/tenant matters.
Simon heads up Baker Botts' sector-focused real estate practice in Moscow. Before joining Baker Botts, Simon worked at international law firms, in both London and Moscow.

In 2015, Simon lead our Russia-based real estate team in advising the Hines Russia & Poland Fund on the Metropolis Office Building 1 Acquisition, the Metropolis Office Building 3 Acquisition and the equity divestment of a minority interest in Metropolis Office Buildings 1 & 3 to, and associated joint venture with, PPF Group. This transaction won "Deal of the Year – Sale and Purchase" Award at the Annual Commercial Real Estate Awards in 2016, as the largest investment transaction involving foreign investors in 2015.
Simon also advises international developers and contractors in Russia and EMEA on construction matters, including the form of procurement/structuring, construction, package or works contracts, consultant appointments, and related agreements, such as bonds, guarantees and warranties. He also has experience of dispute resolution in the international construction industry, including claim analysis, arbitration, litigation and mediation.
