John Bae is a restructuring attorney with extensive transactional and litigation experience. He has represented clients in large, complex and litigious bankruptcies, as well as strategic transactions utilizing the bankruptcy process to achieve a specified goal. He has developed particular experience in mass tort-related bankruptcies, including asbestos bankruptcies.
Mr. Bae regularly advises and represents companies and boards of directors in insolvency situations both domestically and internationally. His clients have included debtors, creditors, senior and mezzanine lenders, ad hoc noteholder committees, insurers as well as administrators of foreign insolvent estates.
Prior to joining Baker Botts, Mr. Bae was a partner at another international law firm. While in law school, he served as the Notes & Comments Editor for the Hofstra Law Review. Mr. Bae serves as a member of the Dean Advisory Committee of Hofstra University School of Law. Mr. Bae is also an Adjunct Professor of Law at the Maurice A. Deane School of Law at Hofstra University, where he teaches Advanced Bankruptcy.
