The firm’s roots in Europe date back to the 1970s when a team of lawyers advised a major energy client on a large natural gas project in the former Soviet Union. As client demand for legal counsel continued to grow in the region, we opened offices in Moscow (1993), London (1998) and Brussels (2012).
Today, we represent a wide variety of clients including major integrated energy and energy services companies, independents, consortia, banks and investment houses, multilaterals and governments in a broad range of upstream, midstream and downstream energy projects. We advise clients on pipeline projects, gas projects, including LNG and gas-to-liquids, mergers, acquisitions and joint ventures, project financing, infrastructure projects, privatization, oil and gas exploration and production and carbon emissions trading.
In addition to our energy capabilities, these offices advise in the development of European competition law and policy, including merger control matters, cartel investigations, single-firm abuse of dominance matters and matters involving the intersection of intellectual property and antitrust. Other IP areas of skill include patents, trademarks, designs, copyright and trade secrets.
Our offices also offer coordinated teams dedicated to international arbitration and dispute resolution. Our lawyers have worked with all of the key arbitral institutes, and our arbitration lawyers act as advocates in some of the largest arbitrations in the world.
Our strength and ability in this region has been recognized by third-party sources. Researchers for the most recent Chambers Europe and The Legal 500 EMEA publications recognized our lawyers for their work in Energy & Natural Resources, Private Equity and Real Estate.
We pride ourselves on the team approach we bring to every engagement, and we believe our collaborative approach improves the results we earn for our clients.
