The Pro Bono Coordinator Award is presented to an individual who has made an exceptional contribution to the delivery of, and access to, legal services for the poor, while serving as the pro bono coordinator for a volunteer attorney organization or group.
“Our firm is extremely committed to helping our communities through pro bono legal services,” said Baker Botts Partner John Porter. “Keri’s outstanding leadership in providing assistance to the thousands of people whose lives were upended by Hurricane Harvey make this award well deserved.”
Keri Brown serves as chair of Baker Botts’ Houston pro bono committee and her leadership role in coordinating volunteers and training on the frontlines of Hurricane Harvey illustrates her true commitment to service. She worked with Lone Star Legal Aid and the Houston Bar Association in the days following the hurricane to recruit attorneys to help those affected by the flood. In addition, she arranged products and supplies to be distributed to shelters in the Houston area.
Ms. Brown was nominated for the award by the Houston Bar Association. She will be recognized at the Bar Leaders Recognition Luncheon on June 21, 2018.
