BP officials announced today that former U.S. Secretary of State James A. Baker, III will chair an independent panel to review safety management procedures and culture at BP Products North America, Inc., the subsidiary responsible for the company’s U.S. refining operations.
Baker will chair an 11-member panel that will make a thorough, independent and credible assessment of the effectiveness of BP Products North America’s corporate oversight of safety management systems at its U.S. refineries and of its corporate safety culture. The panel will ultimately deliver a written report, which is expected to be issued within a year of the establishment of the panel.
A team of Baker Botts lawyers will serve as counsel to the Safety Review Panel. The team includes Joe Cialone, Pam Giblin, David Sterling, Mark Farley and Joe Poff. Other lawyers will be added to the team.
Any inquiries concerning Secretary Baker’s or the law firm’s involvement in this matter should be directed to Mike Cinelli, the firm’s PR Specialist, at ext. 1764 or at email@example.com.
