Summary

Jack Chen has a strong background in computer science, and his legal practice focuses on innovations in the computer and high-tech industry. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Chen was a senior system engineer for Xanboo Inc., where he worked on home monitoring systems and helped develop the technology that led to a number of patents. He is particularly knowledgeable in such areas as home automation, user-interface design, speech input/output, and TCP/IP networking.

Mr. Chen has drafted and filed original patent applications relating to computer hardware, software, user interface, and business method technologies. He has furnished clients with freedom to operate, clearance, invalidity, and noninfringement opinions in computer and pharmaceutical technologies, and has assisted with patent licensing.

As part of a trial team, Mr. Chen has provided litigation support in district court and International Trade Commission cases, including handling traditional and electronic discovery and drafting briefs and motions.

Mr. Chen has a working knowledge of Taiwanese, Chinese, and Spanish.
