Summary

Although experienced in a number of fields, James Arpin focuses primarily on advising clients in all areas of intellectual property law and technology transfers. His practice emphasizes the drafting and prosecution of U.S., non-U.S., regional, and international patent applications.

Mr. Arpin counsels both corporate clients and individual inventors on all aspects of intellectual property protection, licensing, enforcement, risk analysis, and dispute resolution. He helps clients develop intellectual property protection programs and helps them manage, maintain, and exploit intellectual property portfolios. He also has experience in the taxation of transfers of intellectual property.

Upon graduation from the University of Pennsylvania, Mr. Arpin was commissioned as an ensign in the United States Navy. During five years of active duty, he served two division officer tours on combatant ships making deployments to the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans. He served in the U.S. Navy on active duty and in the Naval Reserve from 1977 through 2002, attaining the rank of lieutenant commander in the Naval Reserve.
