The U.S. Supreme Court has shown a particular interest in intellectual property cases over the past several years, ruling on a number of cases that have significantly impacted patent law. Meanwhile, recent changes in the patent law landscape have left patent holders and patent practitioners uncertain about the issues that have had an effect on patent value and viability.
As the current Supreme Court Term unfolds, we will take a hard look at 2016 Supreme Court patent decisions, including questions on enhanced damages and inter partes review, that could significantly affect the rights of patent holders. Our panel will include attorneys who filed amicus briefs in Cuozzo and the Stryker/Halo cases. The speakers will also examine other IP cases to watch in 2016, and there will be a timely discussion of the impact Justice Scalia’s vacancy and Merrick Garland’s nomination may have on IP decisions by the Court.
Our speakers will include:
- Michael Hawes, Partner, Baker Botts L.L.P.
- Aaron Streett, Partner, Baker Botts L.L.P.
- Jennifer Nall, Senior Associate, Baker Botts L.L.P. and
- Matthew Kelly, Chief Intellectual Property Counsel, Managing Director, Associate General Counsel, CME Group
