Summer Programs

Baker Botts’ Summer Associate Program provides real experience working for the firm’s clients under the supervision of experienced lawyers and with the support of a strong mentoring program.

We encourage our summer associates to consider different areas of practice during the summer program. Through the Summer Associate General Assignment Program, summer associates work with many different lawyers on a wide variety of matters. A team of partners and associates will be your advisors — guiding your projects, offering critiques of your work product, introducing you to other lawyers and answering questions. Through this process, you’ll get exposure to more people and practice areas sooner and discover what Baker Botts is really all about.

During the Summer Program, the firm hosts Baker Weekend, an opportunity that enables summer associates and lawyers from each of the six U.S. offices to meet one another in a setting that helps reinforce relationships across the firm. The event includes panel discussions, presentations and department-specific breakout sessions that provide valuable insight into our culture, practices and management. A highlight of the weekend is a keynote address by The Honorable James A. Baker III, the 61st Secretary of State of the United States and Senior Partner at Baker Botts.

Summer associates earn competitive weekly salaries.
